Game Control Device
WO2011056104A1
This invention introduces a handheld haptic game controller capable of delivering realistic force feedback in three dimensions. Unlike earlier systems, which relied on bulky rotational motors with cables and required the device to be fixed to a table, this solution uses a cross-shaped configuration of linear actuators.
The key innovation is the mechanical setup: three linear motors arranged perpendicularly in a compact structure. By precisely controlling the movement of the individual actuators, the device can simulate directional forces and resistance with high accuracy, such as recoil, impact, or friction, directly in the user’s hand.
This design eliminates the need for external mounting, making it robust, lightweight, and suitable for mass production. It opens the door to immersive haptic feedback in portable and consumer-friendly formats, enabling richer interaction in gaming and virtual environments.
